NTC NEPAL TELECOM upgrading Mobile network (with 3G) in Nuwakot, Rasuwa, Dhading

Nepal Telecom the pioneering operator of Nepal, is going fierce with the expansion of its new mobile network across the country. This week we had posted a news regarding the completion of 3G upgradation in some cities outside Kathmandu and now from today (May 20, 2014) NT is starting to change GSM network in Nuwakot, Rasuwa and Dhading areas. Existing ZTE BTS's there will be swapped by new Huawei BTS's (with 3G) as a part of the 5.2 Million Project. It is known that it will take a week to complete the work after which mobile network will have more clear voice quality there and mainly the data speeds will increase rapidly along with 3G.
After successful swap here, Banepa, Sindupalchowk, Charikot and Ramechap are the other regions where this sort of up-gradation is scheduled next.

What to do if you encounter any problem during the upgrade?
It is also known that there may be some problem during the swap time. For that, customers need to switch off/On at least once and wait patiently for sometime, but NT requests them to contact their mobile customer center (1498) if the problem persists for long.

What to expect from new Network?
Once the old network gets swapped by a new network, customers will be getting high capacity, good quality GSM network and the best part is they will be even having a 3G network for high speed Internet. With the Swap, NT expects to provide better call quality and high speed Internet with Edge and 3G.

What to expect with 3G?
3G Subscribers there will be able to surf fast internet with speeds up to 7.2 Mbps. Apart from Fast internet access, 3G provides you additional service of Video call at Rs 2 per minute and MMS at Rs 1.5 per one MMS (file size 200 KB).

How to subscribe 3G?
NT GSM customers (both prepaid and postpaid) can easily subscribe 3G by sending a text 3G to 1400. Customers even need to select 3G in their mobile network settings, to use 3G service.

How to configure 3G for your handset?
After the registration of 3G, if you are already browsing NT GPRS in your handset then you don't have to do anything as it is the same configuration, otherwise you have to add ntnet in the access point name inside the mobile network settings which are located differently in different handsets except for blackberry (where you have to use external browser Operamini). You can directly configure the handset by sending SMS to 1404 with keyword: gprs (nokia, lg, motorolla, indian etc), sagprs (samsung mobiles), segprs (sonyericsson mobiles), chgprs (chinise mobiles) and save the incoming SMS with setting by giving the pin code 1234.
